Quick Tut: Enable Custom Background For Your Blog in 2 Minutes

Sometimes, when you use either free or premium WordPress theme, it does not come with the option that allows you to have your own custom background for your WordPress blog.

This will definitely hinder you to have a WordPress blog that have more of your personal styles & identities.

WordPress 3.0

For your information, with the release on WordPress 3.0, it permits users to change the background of posts and pages from the backend administration panel.

With the introduction of this version of WordPress, you will now have the ability to choose different colors or uploading an image to set as your background. It is now up to you to decide how the background of your WordPress blog will be.

Activate Custom Background Feature

To activate custom background feature, you just need to paste below code snippet into your functions.php.

add_custom_background();

After you have saved the edited functions.php, head to the Appearance panel. There will be new menu for you to select i.e.  Background

Go the Background page. One you are there, you will see this;

With this setting page, there are two options you choose on how you want to style your WordPress background.

First, by uploading background image. For this option, after you have uploaded the image, there will be various options you can choose. These options will determine how your image appear in the background.

The second option is by using simple background color. You can choose the color that you love by using the provided color picker.  I find it really handy to have the color picker
